All rubies listed in this collection are natural corundum — mined, not lab-created. Each listing clearly states whether the stone is unheated, heat-treated, or flux-healed, so you know exactly what you're purchasing. We do not sell synthetic or simulant stones in this collection.

Q2: What is the difference between red spinel and ruby, and why does it matter when buying?

Red spinel and ruby are two distinct minerals that can look nearly identical to the naked eye. Ruby is corundum (Al₂O₃) while spinel is MgAl₂O₄. Historically, many famous rubies were actually spinels. For buyers, this matters because natural red spinel is often unheated and can offer exceptional value compared to ruby of similar appearance. We label both accurately so you can make an informed choice.

Q3: Do you sell rhodolite garnet and almandine garnet separately, or only in mixed parcels?

We offer both options. Individual stones are listed by variety (rhodolite, almandine, pyrope, hessonite) with specific weight, origin, and quality details. We also carry mixed garnet rough parcels ideal for lapidaries who want variety at wholesale pricing. Filter by product type or contact us for custom parcel requests.

Q4: Can I get a certificate of authenticity or gemological report for red gemstones I purchase?

Select stones in this collection come with or are eligible for third-party lab reports (GIA, GRS, Gubelin, or AGL). This is noted in individual product listings. For stones without existing reports, we can advise on how to submit for certification post-purchase. All our stones include a Folkmarketgems provenance note with origin and treatment disclosure.

Q5: What red gemstones do you recommend for engagement rings or fine jewelry settings?

For fine jewelry, we recommend natural ruby (hardness 9 on Mohs scale) or red/pink spinel (hardness 8) as the most durable options. Rhodolite garnet (hardness 7–7.5) is an excellent budget-friendly alternative with rich raspberry-red color. Pink sapphire is another corundum option with excellent durability.
