Geology of Kashmir Sapphire Stones

Collisions of Eurasian and Indian Plate

The most interesting and dramatic plate-tectonic creations are from Himalayas. The Himalayan range go from 2.900 kilo meter. This area has immense mountain ranges which started to form million years of ago. Indian and Eurasian plates started to mix up because of plat movements. Himalayas are result of two mass lands of India and Eurasia collisions. One will see same rock density and rock identification in both these areas. One will find same rock pattern in both lands.

Famous Kashmir Valley

There lies Zanskar mountains range around the Kashmir valley (in the Padar region of north western Himalayas). These regions are popular for their mightly glaciers, high altitude mountain ranges, high peaks, very very narrow valleys. The region usually have seismic activities which occasionally cause major earthquakes like it happened in 2005, Kashmir region of Pakistan side. These earthquakes becomes causes of landsildiing which occur due to the movement of Indians and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Kashmir Sapphires " The Collectors' Dream"

The popular Kashmir valley has also produced the rarest and beautiful sapphire stone which is considered hallmark in sapphire stones. These sapphires are mined at 4500 meter high which is inaccessible part of Himalayans in 1800s. Kashmir Sapphires are considered the " Collectors' Dreams". On Indian side Kashmir was producing blue kashmir sapphire from 1882 to 1887. It was producing world famous cornflour blue sapphires. Since 1900s, the mining of the Kashmir Sapphire has been stopped and mostly blue kashmir sapphires found in the market are basically result of circulations which come from the limited period of 100 years ago.

Kashmir sapphire is famous for qualities such as their silk like rutile needles. These needles cause the velvet glow of sapphire color. This is only related to Kashmir Sapphires.

Kashmir Sapphire is continuously rulling the sapphire stone world. This will definitely give return on investment.
